Mark Bennett

My name is Mark Bennett and I have been building and reparing guitars for 47 years.

I started playing the guitar when I was eight years old, my father bought me a ukulele to keep me occupied while recovering from a broken leg.  I soon progressed to a six string accoustic guitar, but it wasn't long before I wanted one like I saw on the TV. It was 1969 and I wanted to be George Harrison or Keith Richards. When I discovered a few years later that I was never going to be the next Eric Clapton I turned my attentions to 'modifying' the small collection of guitars I had. Very soon my school mates would be badgering me to 'improve' their instruments for them and quite quickly I had more work than I could cope with. These were the days before the Internet, and so everything I learnt was from pestering the guy in my local music shop, books from the library but mostly trial and error. Today I still play guitar in a band here in Devon, but Lutheiring is my passion.      MB 2024
